Here’s How You Make An Easy Blueberry Cobbler

STEP 1. 

Prepare the dish, preheat the oven, melt the butter and then mix the flour, sugar, milk and flavorings together

Ingredients for Easy Blueberry Cobbler: 

Blueberries:  Use fresh or frozen or even canned blueberries. Understand that canned blueberries don’t hold up well though and may tint your batter blue and result in fewer blueberries in the actual cobbler.

If you LOVE BLUEBERRIES, by all means add MORE! Up to 4 cups will work (after that, there isn’t enough breading to hold the cobbler together). 

Self Rising Flour:  Make sure to use the self rising flour because it has extra ingredients that will puff and fluff the cobbler. 

Granulated White Sugar:  Because of the easy measurements and few ingredients, I wouldn’t recommend using a sugar substitute in this recipe. Just plain old white sugar will do. 

Butter:  It’s fine to use a butter substitute if you need to but real butter gives a flavor you can’t get otherwise. Use one stick or 8 tablespoons. 

Milk:  Use any % of milk you like, but I typically use whole milk for the added flavor and richness. I haven’t tried any milk substitutes with this, so let me know how it turns out! 

Vanilla, Almond Extract and Salt:  I add these to give a pop of flavor. Certainly not an absolute necessary ingredient for the recipe. 

How To Make Easy Blueberry Cobbler

This recipe couldn’t be easier! At home we call this “one cup cobbler” and you’ll soon see why.

Simply do the following: 

  1. Preheat the oven
  2. Melt the butter.
  3. Mix the flour, milk and sugar together. Add the melted butter. Add the flavoring ingredients. Then put it all in the baking dish!

So EASY!

How Do I Know That This Cobbler is Done? 

It will be a little bubbly on the sides and the top crust will be starting to brown. 

Can I Use Frozen Blueberries To Make This Cobbler? 

Yes! Of Course! Just dump them in frozen (that’s what I do) and they will bake up no problem! 

Can I Use Canned Blueberries for this Cobbler? 

Yes, you can, but they tend to fall apart during baking and your cobbler might have less whole blueberries and a more blue tinted cake! 

Can I Make This Ahead? 

Yes! You Can! You can either make it and then bake it the day of OR you can finish and then just warm in the oven. 350 for about 15 minutes should do it!

Can This Cobbler Be Frozen? 

Yes, No problems with freezing. Cover well or place into a freezer safe container and it will keep for up to three months. 

How Do I Reheat This Cobbler? 

  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 for 15 minutes. 
  • Reheat individual pieces in the microwave in 1 minute intervals until heated through. 

What Goes With Easy Blueberry Cobbler? 

This makes the lovely end to a southern dinner of Pot Roast with Cooked Cabbage and Macaroni and Cheese and Asparagus! Try it today! 

Tips and Tricks for Perfect Easy Blueberry Cobbler

  • Be sure to prepare the pan with baking spray otherwise it is likely to stick to the baking dish. 
  • Use the best ingredients you can afford. Fresh blueberries always turn out the best. 
  • Frozen or Canned blueberries will work fine too. Canned blueberries tend to burst and fall apart more easily.
  • Gently fold the blueberries in at the end. Use a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to avoid breaking up your berries. 
  • If you prefer a more crunchy top, turn the broiler on for the last minute or so to brown the top. 
  • For MORE blueberry goodness, use up to 4 Cups of blueberries.
  • The blueberry is a terrific food for your health! Ever heard of a super food? Yep, give them a shot if you haven’t before! 

PRO TIP:  For a super flavor kick, mix in the zest of ½ a lemon. The tastes are perfect together. 

PRO TIP:  If you LOVE more fruit but don’t have any more blueberries, add in a drained can of peach slices. Peaches and blueberries are terrific together!

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbs Butter melted
  • 1 Cup Whole Milk
  • 1 Cup Self Rising Flour
  • 1 Cup Sugar Granulated White
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 Cup Blueberries fresh or frozen

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350
  • Prepare a 9x9 baking dish with non stick baking spray and set aside.
  • Melt ½ stick of butter (4 tbs) in a microwave safe dish (30 secs - 1 minute in the microwave) and set aside for the next step.
  • In a large bowl, mix together milk, flour, sugar, butter, vanilla, almond and salt until smooth.
  • Pour this mix into the prepared baking dish
  • Either gently fold the blueberries into the mix or you can simply sprinkle the blueberries over the top, either way works! (The blueberries gently sink down into the cake mix as it bakes)
  • Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes until slightly browned on top!
  • Serve hot with ice cream!
