Notes

  • We are seeking to double the usual recipe, so be sure to use large size bowls and baking dish.
  • You CAN make this in a slow cooker, but you will need a large 6-8 quart size.
  • This is a great side dish for adding your own touch like fresh mushrooms (saute first), cheddar cheese or fresh green beans.
  • You can substitute the classic onion topping with butter coated and crushed corn flakes!
  • You can take the classic french's green bean casserole to the next level by adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce!
  • Keep this traditional green bean casserole recipe oven ready in an airtight container!
  • Plan your oven space for the big day! This casserole takes up half of a rack and if other items are in the oven, will take slightly longer cooking time.
  • This dish tastes great at room temperature, be sure it gets to the refrigerator within 2 hours, however.
  • Shop early! French fried onions keep on the shelf, buy those early at the grocery store (they sell out quickly).
  • Add 1/4 - 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper for a bit of spice.
