Easy Overnight French Toast Casserole
This is the best Overnight French Toast Casserole recipe. I am not kidding when I say this was AMAZING! The best part, you can make it ahead and just bake it when you are ready to. It's perfect for a Saturday morning breakfast, or when friends or family are visiting.

1 9x13 baking dish
- 1 Loaf Brioche Bread
- 5 Eggs
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 ½ cup Heavy Cream
- 1 Orange Zest, and Juice
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- Optional: Berries for topping
Grease a 9x13 Baking Dish
Tear or cut brioche bread into bite size pieces, about 1 inch, place in baking dish.
In a separate bowl, mix 5 eggs, brown sugar, heavy cream, orange zest and juice, and cinnamon. Whisk until well combined.
Pour the egg and cream mixture over the brioche bread.
Add optional fruit toppings.
Cover and store in the fridge overnight.
The next morning, Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees
Remove the cover from the baking dish, and bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes
Remove from the oven, cool and serve.
- Prepare the night before - Let the casserole sit in the fridge for at least 8 hours so the bread fully absorbs the custard mixture
- Use day-old bread - Slightly stale bread holds up better and won't get soggy when soaked
- Whisk eggs thoroughly - Beat until completely smooth to prevent streaky, uneven custard throughout
- Let it rest - Allow the casserole to sit for 5-10 minutes after baking before serving for easier slicing
- Test doneness with a knife - Insert in the center; it should come out mostly clean when fully cooked
- Grease the dish well - Butter or spray every corner to prevent sticking and ensure easy serving
