How To Cook Frozen Chicken Nuggets in a Pan

Using a heavy frying pan ( prefer cast iron)...

  1. Pour a thin layer of vegetable oil in pan (2-3 tablespoons full).
  2. Heat over medium heat until oil is shimmering and ripply.
  3. Place chicken nuggets carefully in the pan (don’t spatter yourself) and allow plenty of space between them so that they can cook well. Do NOT overcrowd. 8 per standard skillet is about right.

Do I Need To Thaw Chicken Nuggets Before Cooking Them?

You do NOT need to thaw chicken nuggets before cooking them. All of these instructions are written for you to use the frozen chicken nugget like it comes right out of the bag or box.

Are Frozen Chicken Nuggets PreCooked?

You can check the package and see if it says “precooked” or not.

Can You Fry Frozen Chicken Nuggets from Frozen?

Yes, Absolutely!  Simply follow the instructions below for how to make them crispy and tasty in the oven or follow the directions above for how to do this on the stovetop.

How Do I Make Frozen Chicken Nuggets Crispy?

The secret to crispy frozen chicken nuggets is  to coat them well with a thin coat of oil and then bake. The recipe below has all the instructions for perfect chicken nuggets.

Can I Refreeze Frozen Chicken Nuggets?

  • If you have already cooked your frozen chicken nuggets, then yes, you can refreeze them. The problem is that because they have already been cooked, they will be dry when you thaw and cook them again.
  • If your chicken nuggets have not been cooked and have thawed while sitting out on the counter, do not refreeze them until you can cook them first.

Tips & Tricks for Perfect Crispy Frozen Chicken Nuggets

  • Always spread the chicken nuggets out so that they heat can circulate well around the chicken nugget. If they are too close together, then they will simply steam and they will not be crispy.
  • Apply a thin coat of oil to each chicken nugget as well as a few spices and salt and pepper. This will result in a crispy and tasty crunch for your chicken nugget.
  • It DOES matter what kind of oil you use. Use vegetable oil.
  • Buy the best quality chicken nuggets you can afford, these will always taste the best.
  • A shiny and nice quality pan makes the nicest browning surface for your chicken nuggets. You can achieve the shiny surface by using the shiny side of aluminum foil. This makes clean up a cinch as well!

PRO TIP:  Serve with a selection of sauces for the most fun and taste! Try ketchup, yum yum sauce and honey mustard!

How difficult it is to love one another sometimes, right? Someone is rude, hateful, spiteful or backstabbing. It’s easy to be angry and think, “I’ll never have anything else to do with them”.

However, Jesus tells us to love others as He has loved us. I’m pretty sure that WE (as a people) were much worse to Jesus than just being rude, hateful, spiteful and backstabbers.

Think on that for a little.

John 15:12

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you

Was I supposed to mix the oil and spices first? I put the oil and spices on the baking sheet and mixed them a bit (so I didn't have lumps of pepper and garlic powder). I then put the nuggets on and tumbled and swirled them on the pan in the mixture. They became black because of the pepper and the spices didn't coat them evenly. Hmmm. What did I do wrong?

You did it right. Some of the spices will stay on the sheet pan, I'm not sure how come your nuggets looked black?

Yes, you can. Just look at your toaster oven the same as a regular full size oven. SEt at 400 for 20-30 minutes.

No, for this application, olive oil will work just like vegetable oil. It does have a flavor though so it will add that olive oil flavor to your nuggets.

I'm going to try this. I was looking for a different take on chicken recipes and now I have found it. I believe I will bake them for a crispier nugget. My husband loves to dip them in Ranch Style Dressing.

Thanks for all the tips at the end of the recipe and answering all of the questions I had regarding preparation and freezing. Sometimes I have to have a meal prepared quickly before an event, but I do like to make the meals very tasty.
