Who doesn’t love that creamy blend of herbs that homemade salad dressings offer, especially for a fan of ranch, the best homemade ranch dressing of all! Of course, you can buy premade ranch from the hidden valley kitchens, but the diy ranch dressing in the dry seasoning packet is the real thing and the real deal that has the great taste for the taste buds!

How to Make Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing with Packet

It really couldn’t be easier and the recipe is right on the back of the box BUT in case you threw the box away or didn’t quite understand what to do, I’m here to show you. You can do it! It’s EASY!

You’ll find these packet dressings are similar. See our Italian Dressing Packet for example

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Mayo – A cup of mayonnaise, use a good one!
  • Milk – A cup of milk (whole milk) is best, but if you must, use any regular milk.
  • Packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing  – (use the hidden valley ranch packets dry mix or 3 Tbs out of the large bottle). Don’t use an off brand store-bought packet.

Special Equipment

This recipe is made much easier with a good whisk and bowl especially if this is your first time making buttermilk ranch dressing. There’s no need for an electric mixer or other specialty equipment to make this salad dressing mix. This recipe is so much better than store-bought stuff. It’s the best ranch seasoning mix recipe out there!

PRO TIP: Whisks with a more balloon end give more air to your recipe, which is generally what you want.

This bowl set is awesome because it has a spout, a small handle and some grippers on the bottom of the bowl to hold steady on the counter.

PRO TIP: Always look for bowls whose handles don’t take up so much room in your cabinets and that aren’t so heavy. Room is always at a premium in the cabinet and once you get a batter or something in the bowl, it makes it so much heavier!

PRO TIP: Store your homemade ranch seasoning mix and your own ranch dressing in an airtight container in the fridge.

Here’s How It’s Done

  • Mix the dry buttermilk powder, cup mayonnaise and cup of milk together
  • Let it set in the fridge for a bit to thicken and marry.
  • put in an air-tight container for storage.
