What To Do With Left Over Pot Roast

There are lots of choices for what to do with left over pot roast and here are a few ideas…

  1. Freeze the left over pot roast – it freezes well and will last 3 months in the freezer. Place in a freezer safe bag and remove as much air as possible. Seal.
  2. Chop up, add manwich sauce and serve over a warmed bun for hot sandwiches. Gravy? Pour that over the top of the meat.
  3. Chop, add some taco seasoning and eat in tacos! Add a delicious slaw!
  4. Make mashed potatoes, shred the meat and put the mashed potatoes on top for a type of shepherds pie.
  5. Chop and serve over egg noodles with gravy.

  • Don’t try to freeze the raw veggies with the roast, that will just result in mushy veggies.
  • If you are new to cooking roasts, don’t try any other cut that a chuck roast. Shoulder roasts and others are often tougher and you might want to wait until you have this under your belt before moving on.
  • The idea with pot roast is cooking low and slow – so if it isn’t fall apart tender, then try cooking it longer. That usually works.
  • Freeze for up to 6 months.
  • Be sure remove as much air as possible from the package because that helps prevent freezer burn.
