How to Make Watermelon Juice

For this recipe, you have to make watermelon juice and boy is it easy…

To get the juice out of the watermelon, you simply need to blend up watermelon and then push through a strainer.

You may need to strain it back through the strainer a couple of times to remove all of the pulp.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

How Long Does this Watermelon Lemonade Last?

This lemonade will last for several days if kept covered and in the fridge.

Can I Freeze this Lemonade

Its delightful if you freeze this lemonade and then use that ice for the drink. However, I wouldn’t freeze it for regular use.

Substitutions

  • Watermelon – You could try this with other types of fruit too, but then it wouldn’t be watermelon lemonade.
  • Simple Syrup – Use more or less depending on your tastes.
  • Lemonade – You can use fresh squeezed lemonade or bottled lemonade, but do NOT use lemonade that comes in a 2Liter bottle or lemonade that is more like a soft drink. That type will not work.

Tips and Tricks for Perfect Watermelon Lemonade Recipe

  • You’ll want to make sure that you have either a ripe watermelon OR use frozen watermelon. Ripe watermelon will have the most flavorful juice.
  • Decide from the beginning if you will make your own simple syrup or if you will use store bought.
  • You’ll also need to decide if you are going to make fresh squeezed lemonade or if you will use store bought. Either is fine. Use a good quality juice though like simply lemonade.
  • You really have to put the watermelon through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth or you’ll end up with so much pulp that it’s overwhelming.

PRO TIP: Freeze some of the watermelon lemonade into ice cubes and use those in your drink. This way your drink will not become watered down as your ice melts.

YAY~ I did put mine in the freezer. One watermelon yielded 1 1/2 gallons of juice. I packaged in quart size freezer bags. Seems to be holding up well.
